MidnightShe watched him sleep, her blue eyes tracing the silhouette of his body. Even in dreams, he was tense, muscles tight and brows furrowed together. She watched him a little closer: his face was slowly contorting into a look of unease and discomfort. He tossed over, mumbling an incoherent sentence in his sleep. Moving closer, she gently laid a hand on his arm. His eyes snapped open and he jolted upwards, breathing heavily. She leaned in, moving her hand across his shoulderblades. When I was five my brother said, "Kid, do you see that? That is a chicken." I stared at him. He had to be lying. Chickens didn't have four legs. I was positive. They had two just like he and I did, but he reassured me that they were chickens. So, like any good little brother I believed him. At the time I idolized him in every way and if he did it, I did it. If he said it, so did I. We were inseperable.
Twenty years later things have changed. We don't speak. We don't visit. We don't have any form of communication.
